WILD TAVERN

Elystan Street, Chelsea
London, England

When one thinks about ordering steak at a London eatery one may assume it's British beef.  You may be surprised, or maybe not, this is not always the case.  There are restaurants in London that actually serve American born and bred beef.  Wild Tavern is one of those London eateries, and they serve Nebraska farm raised black angus beef.  I have close friends that share my penchant for a bloody good steak.  So when they mentioned this fabulous place where American raised beef is served I had no doubts it would be fantastic.  But even though Wild Tavern obviously goes to great lengths to serve Nebraska farm raised beef this isn't a steak house.  Wild Tavern  describes itself as an Italian inspired neighborhood upscale tavern. I agree with that description.  Wild Tavern has a diverse but refined menu that will appeal to everyone from the vegetarian, pescatarian and of course us carnivores.  I would suggest ordering a steak along with a pasta dish and sharing both.  The steak of course was amazing but the homemade tortello with ox tail...that took my taste buds by surprise in a delicious way!  The only item up for debate was the chimichurri sauce.  Chimichurri-gate, as I call it, caused such a debate the owner came to our table to discuss what makes a good chimichurri.  It was all in good fun and frankly impressed he wanted to know our thoughts.  Hmmmm...well one of our thoughts, but I won't name names!   Great atmosphere, fantastic food, good wine and a night shared with amazing friends!  That's living!
